Training Course on Sustainable Tourism Development at the Green Tourism Hub, MSU

participants from the training course.

At the Green Tourism Hub of Moldova State University, students took part in the Training Course: Sustainable Tourism Development — Design, Entrepreneurship, and Impact Measurement, a five-module journey designed to strengthen skills in sustainable tourism innovation.

Module I introduced sustainability thinking in tourism, encouraging participants to explore how responsible practices can generate shared value for communities, the environment, and local culture. Through discussions and case studies, they examined how collaboration between governments, communities, entrepreneurs, and NGOs transforms sustainability from theory into real practice.

In Module II, participants learned to apply service design thinking to green tourism. They focused on understanding travelers at a human level, mapping customer journeys, and designing tourism services where sustainability is integrated from the start. Teams developed and tested early prototypes that demonstrated creative, practical approaches to greener tourism experiences.

Module III centered on a dynamic design sprint. Working under time pressure, participants reframed tourism challenges, rapidly generated ideas, and turned them into actionable prototypes. The session blended analytical thinking with creativity, resulting in concepts with real potential for implementation.

During Module IV, the focus shifted to sustainable business thinking and green entrepreneurship. Participants explored circular business models, partnership-building, and the essentials of financing eco-tourism initiatives. They also learned how to prepare strong, feasible proposals that align economic goals with environmental responsibility.

Module V addressed impact measurement and future trends in sustainable tourism. Participants studied key environmental, social, and economic indicators, reviewed certification systems such as GSTC, EarthCheck, and LEED, and examined emerging technologies—AI, blockchain, and digital tools—that support transparency and responsible management in tourism.

Through this integrated program, the Green Tourism Hub at MSU has equipped participants with the knowledge and tools needed to create meaningful, sustainable tourism solutions.
